Fallen leaves

De patronen van Wieke van Keulen zijn prachtig! Toen ik op de vorige Brei- en Haakdagen veel van haar patronen in het echt zag werd ik verliefd op het patroon Fallen leaves. Zo mooi! 

The patterns made by Wieke van Keulen are gorgeous! When I saw a lot of her patterns on the Brei- en Haakdagen ('knit and crochet days') I fell in love with the pattern Fallen leaves. So beautiful! 

Ik had al eerder eens een patroon van Wieke van Keulen gemaakt, namelijk de Diamond lace scarf, en dit patroon haakt net zo prettig. 

I made an other scarf by Wieke van Keulen before, the Diamond lace scarf, and this pattern is just as nice to make. 

Naast het feit dat ik verliefd werd, werd ik ook verliefd op het garen dat ik heb gebruikt. Echt, het is het allerzachtste garen dat je ooit gevoeld hebt! Ik heb gehaakt met Vinnis Colours Serina, een garen uit Zuid-Afrika van 100% bamboe. Het is zo super zacht! Ik heb het garen gekocht bij Draadkracht.

Beside the fact that I fell in love with the pattern, I fell in love with the yarn I have used for this scarf. Really, it is the softest yarn you have ever felt! I crocheted with Vinnis Colours Serina, yarn from South-Africa made of 100% bamboo. It is sooo soft! 

Het is geen goedkoop garen, maar het is het echt waard. Het haakt heerlijk, het garen glijdt zo zacht langs je vingers. Ik heb gekozen voor de kleur Sunray. Ik had zeven bolletjes nodig, een daar van zit in de frutsels aan het eind van de sjaal dus als je daar niet van houdt kom je met zes bolletjes ook uit.

The yarn is not cheap, but so worth it. I like to crochet with it, the yarn slides so smoothly between your fingers. I chose the colour Sunray and used seven skeins. I used one skein for the fringe, so if you don't like fringe you can just use six skeins.

Diamond lace scarf

De patronen van Wieke van Keulen  zijn fantastisch! Ze zijn romantisch maar toch modern, en ik ben door haar van kanten haakwerk gaan houden. Het is best ingewikkeld in het begin, je moet op blijven letten, maar het resultaat is heel gaaf! Mijn eerste Wieke-patroon was de square lace triangle. Zodra die af was werd 'ie ingepikt door mijn moeder, dus ik heb helaas geen foto's ;) Op de Haakmeet kocht ik bij Kralalien voor het eerst een bol Unicat. Ik had daar al vaker over gehoord en ik was wel benieuwd, maar zodra ik die prachtige bollen voor het eerst in het echt zag was ik verkocht! Dat kleurverloop! Eenmaal thuis kon ik niet wachten om te beginnen aan mijn volgende project met mijn Unicat: de diamon lace scarf  van Wieke van Keulen!

The patterns by Wieke van Keulen are amazing! They are romantic but at the same time modern. Wieke made me love lace crochet. It is quite difficult at first, you have to pay attention to your stitches, but the results are awesome! My first Wieke-pattern was the square lace triangle which was 'stolen' by my mother as soon as I finished it, so I don't have any pictures ;) At the 'Haakmeet' (crochet meeting) I bought my first skein of Unicat yarn at Kralalien. I had heard about Unicat before, and I was curious about it, but as soon as I saw those skeins in real life I was addicted. Those colours! As soon as I arrived home with my Unicat I started my next project: the diamond lace scarf by Wieke van Keulen!

Onweerstaanbaar! Irresistible!

Unicat bestaat uit vier draden die om de beurt van kleur veranderen. Ik begon in het midden van de bol en had daar vier draadjes donker roze, vervolgens werd na een flink stuk één draadje donker roze licht roze enzovoort, tot aan drie draadjes donker groen aan het einde. Het kleurverloop is daardoor heel subtiel.

Unicat consists of four strands of yarn, which change colour really slowly. I started in the middle of the cake, and began with four strands of dark pink. After a while, one strand of dark pink was replaced with a light pink strand, and so on until I finished with four dark green strands. That makes the colour changes lovely subtle. 

Super gaaf he, dat patroon! Je werkt in de breedte van de sjaal, dus langzaam maar zeker komt het patroon te voorschijn. Ik heb gehaakt met naald 3.5.

Isn't the pattern awesome? You crochet along the short side of the scarf, and eventually the pattern comes alive! I used a 3.5 hook for this scarf.

Mijn bol Unicat was 900 meter lang. Super lang zou je zeggen, maar ik vond mijn sjaal net iets te kort en dus heb ik franje toegevoegd. In mijn katoen stash vond ik twee bolletjes die perfect pasten bij de kleuren van de Unicat en ik vind het effect best geinig!

My Unicat skein was 900 meters long. Quite long, but not long enough for this scarf. I decided to add fring at both ends of the scarf. I happened to find two skeins of cotton in my stash which matched with the Unicat quite well. I like the effect on the scarf!

Vlak nadat ik deze sjaal af had heb ik een nieuwe bol Unicat gekocht, daarover binnenkort meer!

Right after I fnished this scarf I bought another skein of Unicat, more about that skein later!
