Mijn blog bestaat alweer een jaar! Dat is een slinger waard dacht ik zo :)

My blog is here for a year already! I think that is worth some bunting :) 

Het patroon vond ik op My world of wool en is super makkelijk. Ik haakte met naald 4 en wat restjes Soft van de Zeeman die ik nog had liggen. Mooie felle kleurtjes.

I found the pattern on My world of wool, the pattern is really easy. I used Soft by Zeeman and a 4mm hook. I like the bright colours.

Toen ik een jaar geleden mijn blog begon had ik niet gedacht dat ik het in ieder geval een jaar vol zou houden! Ik vind het heel bijzonder dat ik volgers heb, reacties krijg, mensen spreek die ik anders niet zou hebben gekend, het is leuk in blogland ;) Dus dankjulliewel!

When I started my blog a year ago I wouldn't have thought it would last at least for a year! I think it's special to have followers, getting reactions, meeting people I would never had met otherwise. I like it here in blogland ;) Thank you!

Lego man

Lego! Wie is er niet groot mee geworden :) Mijn vriend vroeg laatst of ik niet eens een Lego poppetje kon haken en natuurlijk wilde ik dat proberen. Op Ravelry vond ik een leuk patroon van Trish Hicks, dat ik heb gebruikt en hier en daar heb aangepast. Ik ben blij met het eindresultaat!

Lego! Who didn't grow up with it :) My boyfriend asked me if I could make a Lego man, and of course I wanted to try that. I found a nice pattern by Trish Hicks on Ravelry which I used and adjusted here and there. I am happy with the result!

Ik heb gehaakt met katoen (Catania en Phildar) met naald 3 en ik heb 8 mm veiligheidsogen gebruikt. De pop is ongeveer 25 cm hoog geworden en lijkt best op een Lego poppetje!

I made the doll with cotton (Catania and Phildar) and used a 3mm (D) hook and 8mm safety eyes. My Lego man turned out to be about 25cm high.

Ik vind de details heel gaaf, zoals de handjes, de voeten en de knop op z'n hoofd. Die maken de pop een echt Lego mannetje. Doordat de armen met veiligheidsogen zijn verbonden aan de buik kunnen ze bewegen.

I really like the details, like the hands, the feet and the button on top of his head. They make the doll a true Lego man! The arms are attached to the belly with safety eyes, so they can move.

Grey baby booties

Ik maakte al eerder baby booties naar een patroon van Mollie Makes uit editie 31, toen in het blauw (zie hier!). Onlangs kreeg ik de vraag of ik ze ook in het grijs kon maken: tuurlijk! Ik vind ze in het grijs mooier dan in het blauw. Het blijven schattige schoentjes! Ik heb gehaakt met Drops Paris in lichtgrijs en wit met naald 4.

I have made these baby booties before, with blue yarn (see them here!). I have used a pattern from Mollie Makes issue 31. Someone asked me if I could make them in grey, of course I could! I like the booties in grey even better then in blue. They are cute! I have used Drops Paris in light grey and white and hook 4.

Puff the magic Stegosaurus

Een nieuw patroon van Heidi Bears! Ik vind haar patronen fantastisch, zo heb ik al een regenboog Hippo en een grijze Happy Hippo gemaakt (deze was tot nu toe mijn favoriet), een Fatty Lumpkin en Lollo the African Flower Bear gemaakt. Stuk voor stuk prachtige patronen die fantastische knuffels opleveren! Mijn hart maakte een sprongetje toen ik zag dat het nieuwe patroon een dino was. Super cool!

A new Heidi Bears pattern! I love her patterns, I already made a rainbow Hippo, a gray Happy Hippo (my favorite up to this point), Fatty Lumpkin and Lollo the African Flower Bear. Aren't they fantastic? When I saw the new pattern was a dino, I couldn't be happier!

Een tijdje geleden kocht ik bij Wolplein Lang Yarns Mille Colori Socks & Lace Luxe in kleur 56. Wat een fantastisch garen! Ik was verliefd toen ik het zag: dat kleurverloop, die glitters! De pracht van dit garen is moeilijk op de foto te zetten, in het echt is het nog veel mooier! Het leek me het perfecte garen voor Puff the magic Stegosaurus! Omdat ik de African Flowers extra mooi uit wilde laten komen, besloot ik de kern en de rand met wit garen te haken, en omdat mijn bol Mille Colori redelijk veel blauw tinten had wilde ik de verbindende kleur in het blauw doen. Omdat Mille Colori sokkenwol is, besloot ik voor het wit en blauw ook sokkengaren te gebruiken, dit werd Phildar Phil Folk 50 in de kleuren Danube (blauw) en Blanc (wit). Ik haakte alles met naald 2.5 en gebruikte 12mm glasogen.

A while ago I bought Lang Yarns Mille Colori Socks & Lace Luxe in colour 56 at Wolplein. Such fantastic yarn! I love the colours and especially the glitters (which are hard to photograph, they are so lovely). The yarn seemed perfect for Puff the magic Stegosaurus! Because I wanted the African Flowers to really stand out, I decided to use white yarn for the inner flower and the border, and blue as the joining colour. Mille Colori is sock yarn, therfore I wanted the white and blue yarn to be sock yarn as well. I chose Phildar Phil Folk 50 in Danube (blue) and Blanc (white). I used a 2.5 needle and I used 12mm glass eyes.

 
Ik vond het heel leuk om Puff te maken! Ik denk dat 'ie m'n nieuwe favoriete African Flower Animal is :) Ik vind de kleuren super mooi en hij lijkt ook echt op een dino! 

I really liked making Puff. I think he is my new favorite African Flower Animal :) I love the colours and the fact that he really does look like a dinosaur!

 

Toen ik de 'stekels' op z'n rug aan het vast maken was zoals aangegeven in het patroon (steeds twee naast elkaar) zei vriend: 'dat klopt niet, echte Stegosuarussen hebben stekels om en om, kijk maar: [plaatjes van 'echte' Stegosaurussen]' En dus zitten mijn stekels niet perfect naast elkaar, maar om en om ;)

When I was attaching the scales on Puffs back according to the pattern (two scales side by side) my boyfriend said: 'that's not right, a real Stegosuarus hasn't got his scales right next to each other, see: [showing me pictures of a 'real' Stegosaurus]' So that's why my Puff hasn't got his scales next to each other ;)

The glitters!

En zoals dat hoort in blogland, laat altijd een foto zien van de hele verzameling: hierbij een foto van al mijn African Flower animals naast elkaar. Het zijn er al best wat!

Bloglaw says you should always show a crocheted collection, so here is a picture of all my African Flower animals together! I've made quite a few!

Ripples, ripples!

Het is lente! Een van de betere seizoenen, met meer licht, meer zon en meer kleur. De kleuren van de lente zijn wat mij betreft zachte, zoete pastelkleurtjes als geel, wit, roze en groen. Nadat ik vorig jaar mijn granny stripe blanket had gemaakt in felle, harde kleuren wilde ik een nieuwe deken maken. Wel met veel kleuren, maar niet zo nadrukkelijk aanwezig als de granny stripe. Een pastel kleurige lente deken dus! De deken is nog niet af, maar ik wil 'm toch graag alvast laten zien, omdat ik m super vrolijk vind!

It's spring time! In my opinion: one of the best seasons, with more light, more sunshine and more colours. In my opinion, spring colours are soft pastels in yellow, white, pink, green, etc. I made my granny stripe blanket last year in bright, strong colours. I wanted to make a new blanket, with a lot of colours, but more subdued. A pastel coloured blanket! The blanket is not finished yet, but I wanted to show it anyway, because I like how bright and happy it is!

Ik heb gebruik gemaakt van Lucy's neat ripple pattern, heel eenvoudig maar met een super mooi evenwichtig resultaat. Ik heb gehaakt met Stylecraft Special DK in de kleuren White, Saffron, Aspen, Lemon, Cloud Blue, Apricot, Wisteria, Sherbet, Candyfloss en Soft peach met naald 4. Ik heb heel lang getwijfeld over de kleuren, of het niet te saai/flets was, maar ik ben nu heel blij met mijn keuze.

I have used Lucy's neat ripple pattern, very simple but with a beautiful result. The yarn I've used is Stylecraft Special DK in  White, Saffron, Aspen, Lemon, CloudBlue, Apricot, Wisteria, Sherbet, Candyfloss and Soft peach and hook 4. It took me a while to get used to the soft tones, but I love them now!

De meeste ripple dekens hebben ongeveer 10 herhalingen (boogjes), maar dat vond ik te weinig. Ik besloot dat ik er 18 wilde. Ik heb nu elke kleur drie keer gebruikt en de deken is nu al ongeveer 1 persoons. Ik kan niet wachten tot de deken af is!

Most ripple blankets have about 10 'mountains', but I decided to do 18. I have used every colour three times now and the size is quite big already, big enough for one person. I can't wait to finish this one!

Felted basket

Het leek me altijd al leuk om eens iets te vilten: iets haken, in de wasmachine stoppen en het er vervolgens getransformeerd weer uit halen. Het bleek deze maand Felting Fever te zijn bij Drops, wat inhoudt dat er korting wordt gegeven op al het garen dat goed te vilten is. Op de blog van Echtstudio zag ik eens dit patroon van een mandje. Dat leek me een mooi project! Ik kocht Drops Eskimo in de kleur Amethist

I always wanted to felt something. The idea of putting something in the washing machine and get it out transformed. March happened to be Drops Felting Fever, with discounts on all feltable yarn. Perfect timing! I liked this pattern and started to crochet. I used Drops Eskimo Amethist.

Zoals dat gaat met mandjes: die moeten uitgebreid getest worden door de poezen voordat ze in de wasmachine kunnen.

Common knowlegde: baskets need to be tested by cats :)

En dan nu, na ruim een uur in de wasmachine op 40 graden, met een eetlepel waspoeder en een handdoek... Het eindresultaat!

After more than an hour in the washing machine on 40 degrees, with a tablespoon detergent and a towel... The end result!

Het experiment is geslaagd! Geinig om te zien dat het garen echt vervilt is, het mandje is dikker en kleiner geworden. De poezen zullen er niet meer in passen helaas, maar een paar bolletjes wel!

Succes! Funny to see how the basket changed in the washing machine, it is much thicker and smaller. My cats won't be able to fit in any more, but a few skeins wil!

Granny stripe bag

Ik heb een tas gemaakt! Ik had 'm al eens voorbij zien komen op Pinterest en onlangs plaatste Saskia de Winter een simpel patroon op een van de vele Facebook haakgroepen. Ik had toevallig nog twee bollen tweed liggen en dus begon ik met naald 5 aan de bodem, die bestaat uit een ovaal van stokjes, meerderen naar eigen inzicht. Vervolgens een paar rondes stokjes volgens granny stripe patroon, ten slotte een paar rondes vasten, een ronde stokjes en weer een paar rondes vasten. Die ronde met stokjes heb ik gehaakt zodat ik de rand naar binnen kan vouwen, dat resultaat vond ik mooier.

I made a bag! I had seen the pattern on Facebook and Pinterest before, and decided I had to make it. I had the right yarn and hook (size 5) and started with the bottom, which is an oval made out of dc (us) stitches. When the bottom is the right size, make granny stripe rows and finish with a couple of rows sc, a row dc and again a couple of rows sc. The dc row is there so you can fold the top of the bag inside, I think that makes the top look better.

Ik heb de tas gevoerd met dik, rood vilt. Ik wilde eerst een neutrale kleur vilt nemen, maar de vrouw in de stoffenwinkel zei dat ik juist een kleur moest nemen zodat het mooi door het gehaakte gedeelte zou schijnen. Super goede tip! Van het vilt heb ik eerst een ovaal geknipt voor de bodem en vervolgens een koker voor de zijkanten. Door het dikke vilt is de tas mooi stevig geworden. Ik ben er super blij mee! 

I used thick red felt to line the bag. The felt makes the bag stand up straight. I like the fact that the red colour shines through the grannystripes :) I really like my bag!
